The Touhey Family

I met up with this young family on Sunday afternoon. They're recent additions to Fort McMurray from Vancouver Island. In fact, only a short distance up the coast from where my husband grew up. Having been to the Island in winter, I understand why they were so surprised at how quickly the leaves fall off the trees here.

I enjoyed chatting with Amanda and Allan, while Levi and his little sister Layla were bundles of energy. It was a little hard to get the little ones to cooperate, but luckily we had some snacks on hand.

Thanks for a great afternoon!

Danielle & Cory - Couples session

I got a call this week from Danielle who wanted to get some photos done with her husband Cory. She works with my friend Nancy, whose engagement photos are one of the first entries in my blog.

I was able to schedule an early morning shoot on Sunday with this great couple. Of course we connected right away with all of us being from Saskatchewan. We jumped in their car and we headed out to a few locations downtown.
I've realized why I love early mornings. There's no one else around and it makes it easy to get some great photos.

Thanks for being such great subjects!

The Saunders Family

I had a quick family session with my favourite clients on Saturday afternoon.
I've been photographing this family since their daughter Abby was a baby and this was actually our third shoot of the year. If you look on my website you'll see many images from our first family shoot featured in the Family Ties section.

Always a pleasure guys!

Felicia, John & Hunter

I met up with Felicia and John - and their super cute dog Trigger - on Saturday morning for a maternity session.
This couple was so cute. Felicia was excited to show off Hunter's new room. This little boy is going to be one lucky fella. His room is nicer than some master suites I've seen.

Good luck guys!

A little housekeeping

I kind of missed blogging after a few days of blogging madness, so I figured I'd write a little note.

I had gone back and added this to one of my other posts, but it's an old one and I wanted to share this praise.
I did some family photos for a friend a couple weeks ago. When my friend's mother asked her three sons if they had gotten their pictures taken they apparently replied, "No, we just played and then went for ice cream."
That's exactly what I want the experience to be like for everyone who takes photos with me. I want it to be very relaxed and natural.

A couple of things I have on the go:

• I'm looking to find someone who wants to do a Trash The Dress session. So basically, anyone that's gotten married and wants to dig out their dress for a no-holds barred photo session. You have to be ready for it to get a little dirty but we'll try to not actually "trash" the dress. If you want to see the type of images that can result visit trashthedress.com.
I'll give a free photo session to the first person who contacts me about getting one done.

• Plans are in the works for a boudoir marathon. Basically I'll rent a hotel suite or two for the weekend and we'll do a whole bunch of boudoir sessions. The cost of the hotel room will be split among the people getting their photos done.
My girlfriends who I've done this for tell me it's very liberating and has taught them to love their bodies.
I'm currently working on a date and organizing everything such as hair/makeup for those that want it.
If you're interested learning more about this type of shoot feel free to send me an email.

Paulette, Brian, Cody & Kale Family Session

I had a surprise call the other week from an old classmate of mine.
After telling me how much she enjoyed my work and that she wanted to get some family photos done, the voice on the other end of the phone confessed that she and I had gone to school together. I occurred to me at that point she still hadn't told me her name.

Well, Paulette and I didn't move in the same circles at school and probably barely said more than a couple words to each other in high school, but then we were both different people 12 years ago. (No, I can't believe it's been that long!)

I had a great time catching up and meeting her husband Brian and their two boys - Cody and Kale - at their beautiful acreage out in Saprae Creek. Fall is Paulette's favourite season, so it's fairly obvious why they wanted to get their photos done while the leaves were changing colours.

I really enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks for inviting me over!

Lindsey, Jeff & Keagan Family Session

After a little bit of a scheduling mix-up, I was able to fit in a session with Lindsey, Jeff and Keagan on Saturday afternoon down at Borealis Park.
This was one energetic boy, but he was very involved in the photo process and that helped us to get some great photos.

Thanks guys! It was great to meet all of you!
